DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: Natural surroundings and landscape.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: High and elongated body of the main arena does not seem bulky, due to the large area of glazing of the outer walls. The South side is covered with a "wave" of vertical wooden edges of sun protection. In combination with wooden frame structures, this creates the illusion that the facade of the building seems to dissolve in the natural environment. From the side of the open fields-the spatial composition is built on the opposition of a blind squat volume of stables and a transparent arena with floating roofs connected by an intricate canopy-sculpture of the main entrance.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: It will help us to built this project without any big chancing.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: Half a year for creation the general idea.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: Yes, this project is doing for my client.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: This is a unique project, which is created directly for this place on a very clear terms of reference for a particular client.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: Great experience working on this kind of objects.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: Knowledge of technological and regulatory documents, as well as-the environment, which is very clearly dictated the image of this object.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: This is a private club, which is used by athletes and fans of equestrian sports.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: WoodRibs is not an object of agricultural purpose, but a full-fledged multi-functional sports complex with an individual architectural concept.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The main structural elements of the main volume and its facades resemble ribs or skeleton, but made of wood. That is, structural elements and technological elements of facades create the image of the object as a whole. Hence the name: wood-wooden ribs.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Maximum use of wooden elements-from the main structural elements, details of facades, stables, to sculptural elements of the entrance group and interior design, where the exterior smoothly flows into the interior of buildings.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: Study of the unique surrounding landscape. Selection of materials, design and engineering solutions allowed the most organically enter a new large volume in the existing natural landscape.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: We have a very large professional team of architects, town planners, engineers, designers and technologists who are involved in the design of this object.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: The creation of an equestrian sport complex is always a continuous work with a very tight technical regulations that need to fit into the architectural concept.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: Very clear calculation of the main structural elements of the object for maximum achievement of the conceived project effect.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: Maximum preservation of the existing green spaces in the form of perennial pines, where on the territory it is necessary to place a very large flat spot in the form of an indoor arena.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I like this project to much, so it is pleasure for me to show our project WoodRibs which will be built soon.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: This is the first experiment of using high glued constructions for facades. Although I love to use the tree. But before it was only large wooden construction. And here we used them for facades in the form of waves. At the same time-this is not a decorative element, this design performs certain functional and technical tasks.
DI: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
: Lighting of the object in the dark allows you to feel as if the roof hovers over the forest and the structural basis of the complex and facades turns into tree trunks.
