Martina Schuhmann ("MS") answered Design Interview ("DI") questions about their award-winning work feltstone rug runner. Interview questions prepared by Frank Scott.
MS : Inspired by the nature I started to design felt stone rugs. Optical it should be a copy of the nature.
MS : The main focus was to create an optical copy of the nature, but the rug has to be soft and has to have a feel good factor. It has to be functunal and stand daily life
MS : it needs days, months and years to create the perfect concept
MS : This rug was created in cooperation with a customer.
MS : the design is handmade and produced by myself
MS : it´s handmade, each stone is different to the other, the design is always the same but customer always get it´s individual piece
MS : Every customer how want his individual piece of art - living in a nature inspired enviroment
MS : This design was created for daily life. It´s washable in a standard washing machine, stones are fixed on a non slipping mat - so non slipping but also bigger pieces can be removed easily - and it´s 3 Dimension.
