DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
DLV : My inspiration comes from images on a post-industrial era, a time when men couldn´t control nature anymore and this began to enter in our lives without control. Imagine a chemical laboratory still in activity full of mutant plants, a place where man has learned to live with them.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
DLV : The idea behind this product is to make people think about how men have appropriated nature, how it is that today we control it and how far we would be able to do that. We have to consider also that nature has shaped our decisions and actions since we exist.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
DLV : The project was developed in my spare time for a year. What took me longer was to translate the concepts and drawings that I had to a functional object.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
DLV : It was by own inspiration. I felt the need to capture in drawings the feelings that I had about the relations between industrial objects and natural organic forms.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
DLV : I'll keep working on it to improve details. Once the product is fully ready I'll look for some design brand interested in manufacturing it,
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
DLV : I´m the kind of person that are moved a lot by intuition. While I was working on the project I could visualize a prize in a design competition, so I started looking for the most competitive ones in the world.
