DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The Origeo table/shelf is inspired by origami and geometry.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: I wanted to design a trendy piece of furniture that involved several triangles.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: I hope to make the design known once it is protected, and I would like to sell the design to a furniture company.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: It took a couple of months.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: I designed it because I felt this was missing in the furniture stores.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: No it is not used by any other company, I only have my own prototype.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: I wanted a different coffee table for my own livingroom.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: I did some research on geometry furniture and was inspired by the use of triangles. I was first inspired by a dog house but it looked more like a sphere.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: This design is urabn and fits into a modern home for young couples and families, but also in traditional homes as is will be a nice contrast.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: It is a simple design but looks intricate and different from each angle. All the pieces fit nicely together like in origami, this also makes it more stable.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The name is simply a mix of its inspiration: Origami and geometry.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: Sketchup, archicad and autocad.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: It is new.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: Producing the table, I asked Rogaland Aluminium for advice on the technical aspects.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The angles. Even if the sides are angled, it does not affect the table in being unstable.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: I wanted to share it.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: I learned that it is important to present the work in a good and understandable way.
