DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: Main inspiration is to fill a need. With the latest trend in simple pendant lighting, but with no way to hang in a simple and elegant way, mirroring the simplicity of pendant lighting without shades - Wall-It.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: Upcycyling was the first port of call as far as making a product from off-cuts of acrylic. Transparency was important too to give the pendant light all opportunity to be center stage.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: To produce and market this range of Wall-It products on the global market.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: I started this over a year ago, and have spent three months with prototyping.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: I produce a range of simple pendant lights which I call LOLLIPOPS. I supply a simple nail for the wall, but found that a bracket would add value to the LOLLIPOPS.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: At the moment, Wall-Its are not being produced by another company.
I would prefer to sell/lease the production rights.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: I work in acrylic (Chandeliers, table), and find it an exciting material.
With as much waste that exists, it is challenging to find ways to use the waste in a constructive way.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: No other designs influenced the work.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: All design-interested
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The simplicity and elegance of this sets it apart from other brackets. In fact, the bracket is most resembles is an ordinary wall bracket used for building shelves.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: Wall-It says just what you can do with the LOLLIPOPS (simple pendant lights). Put it on the wall.

: Much of my work is done on a laser cutter, as is this product.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The simplicity of the product and the idea.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: The collaboration with the supplier of waste acrylic is very important, as this is my source of off-cuts for this project.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: Laser-cutting technology although not new, is quite amazing.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?

DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The packaging still is a challenge.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: This was a first step in protecting my design/idea.
