DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
BM : Inspiration came from Science Fiction, and more specifically from antennae constructed on space ships, ground facilities, or space stations. They are usually elongated, straight, sometimes have a light beacon embedded near
or on the top. Metallic in construction, with more than one rod shooting up.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
BM : I want to iterate more on it, have more designs based on this idea, then find ways to make and place them in other loving hands.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
BM : I've been working on this idea for 6 months now, going through many iterations, different power/light sources, including building physical prototypes.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
BM : Beacon is not currently produced by a specialized fabricator. I'm open to any production options should they arise.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
BM : People looking for something different, minimalistic and energy efficient for their lighting needs.
