DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: The main idea was to keep my design as organic and as close to nature as possible, and hence my inspiration was nature itself.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: My main focus was to keep it extremely original where two pieces would never look same.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: The concept took me about a week to design.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: This design was a pursuit of inspiration for my first furniture line that i was exhibiting at a private show where all my furniture were made of reclaimed teak and salvaged metal.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: Produce my work itself. and may be lease the production rights.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Anybody and everybody. Its a piece that could be used in any space- residential, corporate offices, showrooms etc, also can be used as outdoor/garden furniture.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: Its originality.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: Name of the design is Angled Seater as this piece is a juxtapose of lot of angles.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: This design is produced hand made. So Only hand tools were used to scrape out the excess wood and the give its desired shape.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: Eco-friendly.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: Did not collaborate with anyone for this design. I have a set of masons and carpenters who work for me on my design and they helped me during the execution of this design.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: The challenges i faced were choosing the right seasoned burma teak log with a huge circumference and beautiful grains.
Also, my initial design dint have the front indonesian leana root as support but was added later during the production stage as the piece being quite heavy could not take support in the front when sat on it and hence the root leg was added which not only added as extra support but also gave this design an artistic touch.
