Interview with VICTOR TING at Saturday 21st of April 2012: DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
VT : The idea to create an office with a uniquely different working environment in which the people can work, rest and play.

DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
VT : Highlighting and retaining the rustic charm of this 40-year old unit while injecting a modern interpretation at the same time.

DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
VT : About 1-2 months.

DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
VT : I purchased this 40 year old apartment as a personal property investment because I saw the potential and underlying character of this unit unit as an unpolished gem. I decided to translate my vision of this place into a reality for my interior design company.

DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
VT : My love for retaining the character of older properties in Singapore which captured its own part of history in their diverse unique ways.

DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
VT : The desire to process and evolve. I have a desire to place my company on an international platform and I wanted to benchmark myself in terms of design on an international scale. I believe this is a a form of sharpening and learning.
