DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: We have got the inspiration from the ancient Greek ceramic tradition.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: The project of the "1000cc" ceramic carafe started in March 2010 and finished in September 2010 in Athens. It was exhibited in Green Design Festival 2010 in Athens, where it was received with great enthusiasm from the visitors of the exhibition.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: We pursuited our inspiration.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: Anyone who loves good design and concerns himself with the state of the environment.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: The “1000cc” has a curvilinear, minimal and appealing figure, while the extractable metallic ice-pack gives the carafe a contemporary character. The balanced shape and the long, thin neck of the carafe offer the user a safe grip and enable serving. Clay products constitute a sustainable choice and have a comparatively small effect in the environment. The metallic ice- pack is made of an aluminum-magnesium alloy that is not affected by the low temperatures of the domestic freezer. Aluminum is a recyclable and sustainable material.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: 1000cc is the capacity of the water carafe and at the same time, the letters "c" and "c" are the initials of the words "ceramic" and "carafe".
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: The “1000cc” ceramic water carafe, has one liter capacity and comes with an extractable metallic ice-pack. The metallic ice-pack clasps and unclasps on the carafe with one simple move. So, the carafe can be filled with cold water and in addition, we can freeze the metallic ice-pack and apply it on the carafe before serving. Due to this unique feature, the insulating effect of both the metallic ice-pack and the ceramic material keeps water cold for much longer in room temperature.
