DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
HZ : I got inspiration at my grand mum's house in a village called Lucnica, that's the reason for a name. All those credenzas and sideboards, all the details and perfect craftsmanship was the main impulse.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
HZ : I wanted to enhance the work of our ancestors and add new features without damaging the original feel.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
HZ : I am preparing all units for the production.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
HZ : Overall, it took roughly half a year, with all the research and initial ideas.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
HZ : It was just about inspiration, my personal project.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
HZ : Plans are to produce and sell it to end clients.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
HZ : Inspiration.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
HZ : Anyone, who wants to have a nice piece of furniture.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
HZ : "Lucnica" is a village in west part of Slovakia. My family comes from there, my whole childhood is bonded with that place.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
HZ : Pen, paper, computer.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
HZ : Details, unique functionality.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
HZ : There were some problems during designing the back panel pattern and handle, but all was sorted out with a help of CNC machine.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
HZ : A reasonable role, all parts except leg work is done by CNC.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
HZ : I have studied the craftsmanship used in Slovakia, specially around my hometown.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
HZ : How to combine the old craftsmanship with new technologies.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
HZ : I was invited.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
HZ : I have enjoyed every second of my time investing in to this project, but I have to say that I didn't expect it to be so long.
