DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
MS : The main principle was being aware of the craftsmanship and recycling wood from ancient demolished farmhouses. The big ispiration was my return to the creative world, after a long period studing Medicine, Surgery and Nutrology.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
MS : This work represents the very first contact of a Virgo man with creating furniture. Precision was the key word for this job.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
MS : Find distinctive places to host the chair.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
MS : Designing it took a glance of inspiration.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
MS : It appeared as the result of my personal allyment to my life purpose .
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
MS : Now this design is produced by a brazilian Furniture factory and Brand called Qubo. I am open to deal the design on the international market.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
MS : My aim to respect nature and specially the flora, made me search for demolished farmhouses wood. The traditional handmade craftsmanship was the main idea used to develop this work.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
MS : My very first mentor, my father, allied with modern brazilian furniture design ideas.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
MS : People who valorize the touch of men’s hands instead of machine production.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
MS : Its particular soul received during its construction. Its on personality .
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
MS : Its an homage to my father.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
MS : Paper and ink. And the knowledge of brazilan artisans and their hands.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
MS : Its duallity comprehending the luxury aspect and healing pourpose as this chair puts you in a good position for a meditation session.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
MS : Artisans in wood and metal were responsable to give me the knowledge of producing this very first piece .
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
MS : This design was almost 100 % hand made.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
MS : This design was made very intuitively as a process of putting my creative mind back to work.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
MS : The brass back shell was the most intricate part of the design because of its density and hardness.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
MS : After the 2018 award of my second furniture design , the Louva Deus chaise louge, i wanted that my very first furniture design had international recognition.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
MS : I litterally put my hands on work with the artisans and the apprenticeship was outstanding.
