We had the distinct pleasure to interview award winning designer Halfnot Indesign about their original and creative Branding design work. Halfnot Indesign is an award-winning communication designer, that makes our world a better place with their original branding works.
Halfnot Indesign ("HI") answered Design Interview ("DI") questions about their award-winning work Neighbour Program Branding. Interview questions prepared by Frank Scott.
HI : Neighbour Program is a research as practice project aimed at reconnecting art and design institutions within the South-East Asia region. It hopes to encourage closer relationship within the neighbouring countries who shared history and culture, yet each country have it’s own uniqueness. The logo was inspired by the idea of being neighbour, “living next to each other”, each country is represented by a house. Each icon is a simple form of a typical house roof from each country with perspective from top.
HI : We want to create something simple, modern and bold. It has to represent different cultural backgrounds from the every country members and it has to work as a unity as well.
HI : We created the logo so that it can continue to develop alongside the program. For each new country member there will be a new added icon. We hope to see a full set of diversity and unity in Neighbour Program.
HI : The project was a little rush as usually projects are in my country. We have to develop the logo and the collaterals within few weeks.
HI : Neighbour hopes to encourage closer relationship within Southeast Asia region. with shared history and culture, yet despite staying next to each other, each have their uniqueness. With the support from all, Neighbour could build a network where art and design institutions from Southeast Asia could make connections with one another, creating opportunities for academic affiliation, cross-cultural events, guest lecturer visits, school visits, internship opportunities, employment opportunities. Also the sharing of resources and the opening up of more portfolio shows, events highlights and publicity materials.
HI : The design will be used by the Neighbour Program, at the time we submit this design there were 4 country members: Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore & Indonesia.
HI : Since 2008 we’re hands on from developing effective strategies, creating memorable design, to procuring the perfect materials, or collaborating with artisans. We work with our clients through every step of the process, to produce effective and captivating design solutions that are underpinned by conceptual thinking, meticulous attention to detail and innovative production.
HI : We got our inspirations from the mundane of everyday life. We love watching artisans work, we're in love with food, architecture, thriller movies to Japanese anime.
HI : Art and design institutions from Southeast Asia, students and lecturer.
HI : Each icon which forms the logo is a simplified view-from-top version of a house’s roof, which typical from each country of origin. The icons could be arranged based on geographical position, standing separately or simply like houses in a row. Currently having 4 countries as its member, in the future the logo can continue to evolve by adding more icons representing new country members.
HI : We want to share our experience with people. We hope to encourage anyone who's reading this that nothing is impossible. We thank God for the opportunity and the blessings we receive every second of our lives. Without Him we would not be here. So don't give up and keep creating!
