DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: My idea comes from the will to transpose a primitive geometric form such as a spiral into an object to be admired in the family during Christmas holidays.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: The main goal has always been to create an object whose container box was part of the design itself.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: Being a concept now, I plan to make it physically for the next Christmas holidays.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: The testing phase lasted a few months, especially to find a shape that could be stored in a non-bulky box.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: I developed this design autonomously, mainly to achieve a desire I had for a few years.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: Initially I will make a model autonomously, but my idea is to give the production rights to those who can do it on a large scale.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: The design target is rather broad, from people with limited time available who could quickly assemble it, up to families with children who would like to decorate the wood slats.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: What differentiates it from the other proposals on the market is the container box that becomes part of the design itself.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The name comes from a play of words with the famous song Dickens, A Christmas Carol.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: I used my notebook to pinpoint ideas and reflections, but mainly my computer. I used CAD software in addition to the Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign).
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: Basically it was a challenge with myself to see what I could do by working alone.
