DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?

SS : Chemical free Fashion for the Family, sustainable made in germany

DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?

SS : To Create a profound sense of family cohesion. To To develop cuts that grow with the child.

DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?

SS : To build up my business. I'm a one woman show, doing all myself from the design, prototypes, development, commercial, selling

DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?

SS : the creative process takes about two week

DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?

SS : My inspiration is to design fun Kids Fashion for the family with the organic twist. The german Kids design is very classy, practically, I whant to create a new ethical design thinking out of the box. Without the "Himalaya design clishe"

DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?

SS : While I produce everything by my selve, having no employees, I would like to give it away to a german production. The production and design rights will always stay by me. I rather would like to have cooperations with other companys like Adidas.

DI: What made you design this particular type of work?

SS : My inner Child.

DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?

SS : My inspiration comes from my everyday life and the admiration of the little things. My trend lectures about kids fashion is another impulse to create even better fashion.

DI: Who is the target customer for his design?

SS : While I create fahion for the whole family the market is relative big. In present people buy my clothes because of the design and ontop its ethical fashion. I hope in future costumers wont think about to consume fastfashion.

DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?

SS : I connect organic fabrics AND fair trade. Most companys offer only one. Organic Fabrics made in bangladesh (H&M) Fair trade in EU made with Conventional fabrics.

DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?

SS : The collection name "treasures" is the result of my concept as a label. Producing in small series and on demand in my studio, using fabrics and fibers in small amount, searcing in my storage, doing unique pieces.

DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?

SS : I use patterns that will grow with the child. Like the Top of the girl: once it was a Babydress. Pants and Skirts a Long and Stretchy.

DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?

SS : With my heart.

DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?

SS : would be no 13.

DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?

SS : While I hold trend lectures 2ce a year about Kids fashion I know all about it. I work together with the Association of German fashion designers the "trend Research Team" meeting up 2ce a year setting the new trends.

DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?

SS : At fabric fairs its hard to find Manufacturer selling fun and interesting organic fabrics for kids and moms selling in small amounts. While I often produce on demand i need a Supplier having fabrics on stock.

DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?

SS : While its hard to get into the german market, the A Design Award would be a huge kick start. Most Purchaser need a 2. opinion if a product is realy good. Beeing on fairs selling my collections since 2 years I notice peoble are shy.

DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?

SS : Everytime I finished a prototype I fall on love again in my work. I feel freedom knowing I do god doing ethical Fashion for babys sensible skin.
