DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?

SKC : To remind people to rediscover beauty around in a fast paced metropolitan such as Hong Kong while people rarely stop and pay attention to details around.

DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?

SKC : Using exlibris, an extraordinary stationary which allows us to meet the past and future, east and west.

DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?

SKC : To explore more possibility through my illustration and creation, also keep continuing the message of remind people rediscover beauty around.

DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?

SKC : Around six month.I confirm to use my illustration as exlibris calendar for long but to emphasis the presentation of past and future, inner thought and silence. it really takes time.

DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?

SKC : It's totally self-motivated. Zu and Pi is always a label of self- motivation for me and my wife. We hope to take some time each year only communicate with the mass through our ideas and work. I really love the idea of exlibris as a book lover but in a digital era people may not value it anymore and it drives me to pay more effort to cherish the history and culture.

DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?

SKC : Mainly my own but it is welcomed to exhibit overseas.

DI: What made you design this particular type of work?

SKC : my love of illustration and creation.

DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?

SKC : Not really, but I admire very much the spirit of Katsushika Hokusai，the Japanese artist

DI: Who is the target customer for his design?

SKC : All people of all age and culture.

DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?

SKC : Exlibris, it is really a rare kind of work.

DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?

SKC : " If you have the silent breeze " - is a continue series of my " Zu and Pi - " If you have…" " series, as said " If you have" it means not everyone could have or enjoy this beauty, only " If you have" then you will enjoy this simple " silent breeze"

DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?

SKC : Mainly by hand drawing , then photoshop

DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?

SKC : Trying to bring out the impression of the middle ages through modern tools and drawing techniques.

DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?

SKC : Not really

DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?

SKC : Photoshop always helps.

DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?

SKC : Not really

DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?

SKC : The printing quality to present the details of illustration and colour correctness, it can be painful sometimes.

DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?

SKC : I received an invitation to participate this competition.

DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?

SKC : There is always room to improve and I really love to.
