Interview with EUN JI SHIM at Tuesday 19th of April 2016: DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
ES : An existing seatbelt is not designed to consider abdominal size of pregnant women. Since their abdominal size is greater than people in general, more pressure is exerted on their abdomen in case of a car accident which can be more painful and even critical for the life of a fetus.

DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
ES : In order to resolve this potential problem, this seatbelt is grooved which gives more flexibility than the existing seatbelt, so it fits securely and decentralizes the pressure exerting to the abdomen of pregnant women.

DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
ES : I want develop a product.

DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
ES : Two years.

DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
ES : I am experience inconvenience.

DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
ES : I do intent to produce my work myself.

DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
ES : I set up concept.

ES : Pregnant woman, All people.

DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
ES : When this seatbelt is not in use, the groove of the belt is constricted, rolled back in to a buckle, and sharp part of the plate is circled to the opposite site to close, so the belt can be stored firmly.

DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
ES : That mean is seatbelt for the pregnant woman.

DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
ES : Rhinoceros 5

DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
ES : Seatbelt is Mesh.

DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?

ES : This practical feature of the product makes it able to use not only for the pregnant women but also for people with various belt size.
