Interview with Masahiko Sato at Friday 22nd of April 2016: DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
MS : The communication between family member

DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
MS : A spatial composition consist of combination of boxes, horizontal, and vertical element

DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
MS : To be able to do similar work outside japan

DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
MS : 4 months

DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
MS : Its just happen and born naturally as a product of my way of thinking.

DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
MS : We want to ensure the privacy and safety, and also create a living space which makes family members happy and easy.

DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
MS : No

DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
MS : The sense of openness in living room and the utilization of conventional japanese wooden structure.

DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
MS : No

DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
MS : It has important role especially in design development to supervision phase.

DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
MS : We won some a bronze and silver award last year so we are feel very confident and motivated to achieve higher prize this year as our goal.
