Interview with Te On Peter Lau at Thursday 28th of March 2013: DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
TL : I am a left-hander. I broke my left shoulder before. I had difficulty to do everything daily. Especially showering and video-gaming. I was questioning why there is not many designs for single arm user. Considering temporary single arm people are quite many.

DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
TL : Cleaning elbow, armpit and back side of the only functional arm without any awkward or clumsy movement.

DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
TL : Make it into a real product so I can buy one in case I break my arm again.

DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
TL : 1 month

DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
TL : Purely my design solution to a common problem.

DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
TL : No. I plan to sell the production right.

DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
TL : I broke my left shoulder before.

DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
TL : None I can think of now.

DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
TL : Typical wall mounting shower scrubber panel does not clean armpit concave perfectly. Shower brush requires a very clumsy brushing holding method to clean elbow for single arm user. My design resolved both above problems.

DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
TL : Directly from my design form. L and 7. No need to explain more.

DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
TL : My left hand, my brain, my stationery and my computer.

DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
TL : Never been done before.

DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
TL : No one.

DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
TL : Current available technology . Non high technology. Easy to manufacture. Not expensive to manufacture.

DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
TL : No. Disability product research.

DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
TL : Whether to use diamond knurled pattern or plug-in / removable foam / brush for the scrubbing part of the design.

DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
TL : I trust my design has never been done before.

DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
TL : Never too fancy. Never try to be fun design.
