Interview with Kris Lin at Tuesday 12th of March 2013: DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
KL : beautiful flowers
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
KL : Associate with the name “LiYuan Restaurant” in thinking of “beautiful flowers”. So, I conceive the concept with flowers as starting point, and design the LOGO with flower shape.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
KL : The design was used in the projects.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
KL : 20 days
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
KL : Associate with the name “LiYuan Restaurant” in thinking of “beautiful flowers”. This design was commissioned and also was that I decide to pursuit an inspiration.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
KL : My design was used by another company.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
KL : The client commission me and I also want to design a good work.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
KL : Custom of the restaurant.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
KL : Associate with the name “LiYuan Restaurant” in thinking of “beautiful flowers”.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
KL : CAD
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
KL : The topic of flower is used in different ways. It can be the cool frosted glass carving or the real rice paper painting hanging in the wall showing the essence of Chinese culture.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
KL : Jiayu Yang.Yes,I did.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
KL : No,It isn't.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
KL : I want to compet with more people in the international arena.
