Interview with Alain Wong at Wednesday 9th of May 2012: DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
AW : To integrate artistry with functionality. Inspired by the idea of landscape as the office is located in the city centre and surrounded by lots of tall buildings. Therefore the designer would like to create a comfortable and "natural" working environment which is contrast to yet connecting with the street view. The designer used an environmental-friendly material in natural wood color to represent the interior "natural landscape"therefore enhance the contrast, while the large pieces of windows and glass partitions allow natural light steaming through and it created the connection.

DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
AW : Interior design always works within boundaries and has been hidden in bustling city landscape. Because of these boundaries, the connections between internal spaces, people and the city landscape have been segregated apart. In this project, the designer wanted to put emphasis on such connections and therefore used point-to-point method to define internal landscape and to re-create linkages to connect internal design, people and city landscape back together.

DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
AW : About 2-3weeks for the design, but some details were fine tuned during construction, in term of the best practical needs.

DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
AW : It's COMODO's office.

DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
AW : Company expanded and needed a larger new office, so it was the chance to have a brand new look of the office which previously was black-and-white.

DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
AW : Those need interior design for commercial projects.

DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
AW : The concept behind. Perhaps also the idea of integrating the "landscape" with the partitions.

DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
AW : It tells the concept behind: a "natural landscape" in such busy city landscape with lots of compact and tall building.

DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
AW : Both the contrast and connection have been created in a harmonious way.

DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
AW : The form of the landscape was one of the challanges. It is about architecture and lots of details of the form have to be minded.

DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
AW : It's a new try of design for COMODO. Staff and clients like it, but a competition or award is a recognition from professionals, the public and fellows.
