Interview with MU'factory Cetti Davì/ Dario Feo at Monday 16th of May 2011: DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
MC : nature.

DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
MC : no focus, pure pleasure for creating and experimenting with unusual materials. we want to create feelings.

DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
MC : continue to have fun.

DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
MC : from 2006.

DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
MC : we decide to pursuit an inspiration.

DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
MC : In MU'trans project objects are exclusively handmade, and produced by ourselves, but we remain open to any type of collaboration.

DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
MC : ...

DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
MC : ...

DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
MC : who conceived the design as a piece of art.

DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
MC : Energy.

DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
MC : MU'trans: MU for the softness of the material. TRANS for crossing the border between art and design.

DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
MC : hands and spirit.

DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
MC : The objects created look like static but they become tender, elastic and mobile if touched; they start to vibrate and wave unexpectedly. They interact with the user stiring up contrasting feelings.

DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
MC : we have developed it by ourself, we only consulted a chemist to color the silicone.

DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
MC : none.

DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
MC : ...

DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
MC : the silicone we use is not easy to shape.

DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
MC : to see what happens.

DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
MC : We learned to don't work when you do not feel good with yourself, because you transfer negative energy to the object and you do not have a good result. And also we learn to do everything without expecting anything.
