DI: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
: Feeling various light in inner spaces is the main inspiration of the design.The light in works by Tadao Ando including Koshino Residence and Machiya in Kujo inspired me.
DI: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
: Creating shining spaces with various light is the main focus of the design.Light through several voids changes from time to time and they illustrate the spaces.
DI: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
: With the concept of creating spaces of the light and voids,I will design other houses.
DI: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
: About three months.
DI: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
: The primary image of inserting void into the simple volume is the particular concept.
DI: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
: No.I don't he plans.
DI: What made you design this particular type of work?
: Inserting the terrace as the outer void and creating voids in inner spaces,the light from various void pour in to the spaces.These light will express transitional beauty.
DI: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
: Several houses designed by Tadao Ando inspires me.
DI: Who is the target customer for his design?
: People who want to have houses with nature and clear concept.
DI: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
: Simple concept of creating voids and simple spaces with the light.
DI: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
: The name of the house comes from the places it is built Ibaraki,Japan.
DI: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
: VectorWorks and FormZ.I mainly rely on sketches and models to decide the design.
DI: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
: To create spaces with nature by making voids and squares and paths.Considering behaviors of people and residents,I carefully design using models.
DI: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
: Insightful structural engineers.
DI: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
: LVLs which are strong laminated beams realized the long span volume of woods.
DI: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
: No research influences me.
DI: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
: Creating MA which is a traditional Japanese concept of space,in a way meaningless spaces is one of the purpose of the design.To realize this concept I repeatedly study several voids with sketches and models.
DI: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
: My ideas and concepts to be evaluated in the international stage.
DI: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
: Traveling and visiting various great architectures and traditional architectures and villages.
